Birth related services…

Dr. Alexa brings a rare and valuable perspective to her chiropractic practice through her dual licensure as both a chiropractor and a midwife. Earning a degree in midwifery is an extensive process, requiring years of study, clinical apprenticeship, and specialized coursework in maternal and newborn health. Very few practitioners hold credentials in both fields, which makes Dr. Alexa’s combination of expertise truly exceptional…in fact, she is the only practicing chiropractor in Florida that is also a licensed midwife.

Additionally, Dr. Alexa has worked as a doula in the Tampa Bay Area for over 16 years, gaining extensive experience in supporting families across all birth environments—from home to hospital to birth center.

The Advantage of Dual Licensure

For expecting parents, receiving prenatal chiropractic care from a midwife offers unparalleled benefits. Chiropractic care during pregnancy helps maintain alignment, reduce discomfort, and prepare the body for an optimal birth. When combined with midwifery knowledge, this care takes on an even deeper level of understanding. Dr. Alexa is uniquely equipped to recognize how structural balance, hormonal changes, and fetal positioning interact—providing comprehensive support that addresses both the mother’s musculoskeletal needs and the baby’s well-being.

This dual perspective is rare and highly advantageous because it:

  • Ensures prenatal care is grounded in both evidence-based chiropractic techniques and midwifery principles of natural, holistic birth.

  • Provides reassurance that your provider understands pregnancy not only from a physical standpoint but also from the emotional and developmental perspective of midwifery.

  • Enhances collaboration with your birth team—whether you choose hospital, home, or birth center care.

  • Educating families on childbirth options and preparing them for different scenarios.

  • Answering questions and easing concerns at every stage.

Current Services

At this time, Dr. Alexa is offering a range of individualized services designed to meet families exactly where they are on their journey to parenthood:

Individualized Childbirth Education Classes

Each family is unique, and so are their needs when preparing for birth. Dr. Alexa offers personalized childbirth education courses tailored to specific goals or areas of interest. Whether you are seeking a “Partner Support” class to help your partner feel confident and prepared, or a “Waterbirth” course with in-depth guidance on preparation, safety, and comfort techniques, you will receive detailed materials, evidence-based education, and a thoughtful birth bag gift filled with essentials to support your upcoming birth.

Doula with a Midwife Support

Unlike traditional doula care, this level of support is provided by a licensed midwife with over 16 years of doula experience. Families receive not only the nurturing, hands-on presence of a doula but also the clinical insight and expertise of a midwife. This includes continuous labor support, comfort measures, position suggestions to aid progress and reduce discomfort, chiropractic adjustments during labor if appropriate, and compassionate advocacy with your birth team. With this unique combination, families feel reassured knowing that their doula has both the emotional skills and medical knowledge to guide them through pregnancy, labor, and birth.

Preconception Counseling

Preparing for pregnancy begins long before conception. Dr. Alexa offers preconception counseling designed to optimize health and well-being for both parents. This includes guidance on nutrition, lifestyle, and fertility awareness, as well as chiropractic adjustments to create balance in the pelvis and nervous system. Emotional preparation, discussions about family planning, and education on what to expect during the pre-pregnancy phase are also included. The goal is to help couples enter pregnancy feeling empowered, supported, and physically ready for the journey ahead.

These services empower families with the knowledge, confidence, and hands-on support they need to prepare for birth and postpartum. With childbirth education, families learn what to expect during labor, how to advocate for their choices, and how to navigate both hospital and natural birth settings. Doula support provides emotional, physical, and informational guidance throughout pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum period.

While Dr. Alexa is currently offering limited midwifery services, this is only the beginning. As the practice continues to grow, we are working to expand offerings—including a prenatal care program that provides midwifery care with support for families delivering in hospital settings. This model will allow families to experience the compassionate, whole-person approach of midwifery while still having the safety and access of a hospital birth.

Looking Ahead

Stay tuned as we expand our midwifery services in the coming months and years. The vision is to create a space where families can access the best of both worlds: advanced chiropractic care, comprehensive midwifery support, and an integrated model that honors both natural physiology and modern medicine.

Dr. Alexa’s dual licensure is more than a credential—it’s a commitment to walking alongside families with knowledge, compassion, and a holistic approach to health and birth.
